My viewpoint is that Domtool removes the need for the special-purpose 
configuration formats of Apache, BIND, Exim, Mailman, and other 
supported daemons, without introducing any significant downsides... but 
only for people with significant advanced programming experience.  For 
the rest (which is most of current and potential members), I agree that 
.htaccess support is huge value-added.  It's just a matter of mustering 
the resources to figure out how to add that value securely.
