Greetings,

Included is a final parts list (excepting rails) for the hardware
upgrade at Peer1. I'm still investigating sources for the rails, but we
may just have to get the $250 rail kit directly from Dell with the
machine.

This hardware assumes that we will be using two software RAID1 arrays:
one 160G array for the system disk, and another 750G array for AFS. We
never really resolved going with hardware vs software RAID; do we want
to spend an additional $300 (+ $130 for a 3rd drive) on a Hardware RAID5
for AFS? I'm not sure the benefits would be much.

If we go with this configuration (and software RAID) I think we ought to
get larger disks. I've listed the cost of a pair of 1TB and 1.5TB drives
from newegg as well.

* Hardware

 - PowerEdge 2970 ($1194) [server]
   - 2xQuad Core Opteron 2372HE (2.1GHz / 4x512K L2)
   - 8G RAM (4x2G 800MHz DDR / Dual Ranked)
   - 2x160G primary drives
   - No CD-ROM
 - Drives
   - 2xSeagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3750330NS 750GB ($130*2) [750drive]
 - Rails

** Total Cost (w/o shipping): $1454 (+ rails)

* Alternate Drives

 - Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB ($160)  [1tbdrive]
 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB ($130)  [15tbdrive]
   - This only has a 3 year warranty
