[HCoop-Discuss] fyodor future

I think that there is no need to have fyodor on line soon after
configuring the new setup at Peer 1. Basically it's just a matter of
cutting our primary services from fyodor to Peer 1, and then dumping
fyodor as soon as possible. A month sounds reasonable, as long as we
help people along a little bit. We have strong reasons for leaving
fyodor and Interserver.

We need to be careful about dropping abulafia too quickly, though.
Abulafia is currently the secondary DNS server for many of the zones
hosted on our server. Remember that if DNS service for any zone is not
available, not only will web pages not be viewable, but email to that
zone will get ungracefully bounced.

Recently, we have noted problems with Interserver and fyodor that would
make our primary DNS unavailable (ns.hcoop.net points to fyodor). In
these cases, it would be critical to have secondary DNS online to avoid
dropping email.

We will get off of Abulafia soon with the Peer 1 setup, but we have to
be careful about planning exactly how we are going to cut this service
in advance in order to avoid ugly service disruptions.

Just my .02,

Justin
