Other than the fact that some users may not want that high a level of
involvement, I think the more important reason is that if everyone is
involved no-one is responsible. I think that signing on to a committee
hopefully should indicate or require some amount of "commitment" to the
committee to stay involved and see through the execution of that
committee's goals. But I certainly agree that the entire process should
be transparent and open to the observation, comment, and participation by
members at large.

Some suggestions of my own:
* I certainly think that with the steady growth of the coop and where we
are now, that it is both timely and appropriate to take the next steps
suggested by Adam. However,
* I think that we can craft a course of action which does NOT require
another enforced migration of current users in the near future. We have
had some issues with Interserver and we should certainly be looking at
other providers for our future plans, but given how recently we migrated
to fyodor, I don't think we should boot fyodor users off to a third server
if they prefer to continue using the present services. It should be
possible to do this economically. Hopefully at some point we will find
the Ideal Hosting Provider, and we will be better able build up
infrastructure on one rack and take much better advantage of economies of
scale. While we might want to maintain a server or two with a couple
different providers for various reasons, what we DON'T want to end up with
is ten different servers in eight different datacenters.
