A brief response to Tanveer's letter. A free account would be extremely
cheap for the coop in exchange for the skills of a truly skilled sysadmin.
If I knew that the person you suggest were fitted for the job and was
willing to commit and provide broad availability, I would have no
hesitation in arranging such a deal.
However I do hesitate, basically because we can't solve all our issues by
simply adding new sysadmins. Firstly we would need to make sure we could
trust this person not to abuse root privileges, and then that he is truly
capable and suitable for maintaining a system like fyodor. Your
recommendation goes a long ways towards that. However, we currently have
what I would consider a capable group of volunteer admins. If we are
going to add a new one, especially with some (small) remuneration, I don't
know about Adam, Davor, or the membership, but personally I would need
some acquaintance with him and his background before considering such an
arrangement.
The availability issue is definitely a matter of concern, however.
Currently there is no coordination among the admins regarding emergency
response and given people's schedules it might not be possible to do so
effectively. For the most part I think the team has done a good job.
However during one recent outage I did have to contact interserver for a
reboot and then a week later there was an outage lasting several hours
while admins did not seem to be responding. It would be good if we could
find some solution to this.
As to HDD, I don't think the userbase is exploding as yet, and since new
members have to be individually admitted growth in users can be controlled
if necessary, or quotas adjusted.

P.S. Per the bylaws, we will need to be holding an election before too
long. I will start a wiki page later for nominations, so start thinking
about that if you are interested in running or electing someone new. I
think the current team has worked fairly well, although improvements can
always be made. I will also be contacting the IRS later on for an update
regarding 501(c)(12) status, although it is still relatively early. We do
need to know our status to figure out whether we'll need to file a return
by tax day.
