The kernel on Fyodor seems to have 'y' for DMA enabled by default _if_ available.
So I assume that if a sysadmin did hdparm /dev/[whatever physical device it is] we'd hopefully see DMA enabled. 
If not, then we should definitely look into that hdparm script...
