I'm not sure what you mean here: but in trying to find out, I have  
just found in the wiki that I shouldn't be using

web "www"

In a 'dom' block, but instead:

   WWW = begin
     rewriteRule "^(.*)$" "http://mydomain.com$1" [redirectWith  
permanent]
   end

which does do the redirection exactly as I intended.
