[HCoop-Discuss] Navajos Status: Migrate! Or else!

Ahoy,
So, it seems that few folks are willing to take the plunge and give
navajos a shot... well, I'm happy to announce that navajos's apache is
fully functioning (ssl works too!). So, there's no particular reason not
to at least try migrating with a test subdomain. I've done it! Steve's
done it! Bpt's done it! Davor's done it! The grass is pretty green over
here.
http://wiki.hcoop.net/NavajosBogMigrationGuide explains it all (in case
you're just tuning in).
Now the carrot: I'm finally deciphered enough of the innards of domtool
to add new features to the apache plugin. I'm starting to work through
the backlog of feature requests, and intend to add support for things
like:
- Intermediate ssl certificate signing
- SNI so you can have a valid certificate on your sites, without
needing a dedicated IP
- FastCGI (yep, it's caught up with us and can execute servers using
suexec!)
But! Apache on mire is old enough that I can't deploy a lot of things
until we remove it from service (or, reduce its usage to at most five or
ten members with particularly odd sets of servers that prove difficult
to move to a modern Debian machine).
So, the faster everyone moves their sites over, the sooner I can get to
the exciting stuff instead of boring infrastructure work.
For the rest of the weekend, I'm going to clock out of hcoop tasks
*except* for support requests and responding to pleas for help regarding
the navajos/bog migration. Next week (most likely weekend; just my luck
I'm working xmas eve and the day after! And xmas with the family and
all) I'll be spinning up bog, and members doing things like idling on
irc in screen will be gently nudged into moving over.
If you *want* to try migrating but don't know where to start, email
hcoop-help or come and join us over at the IRC channel for a bit of help
getting started.
So: drop on by the irc channel and celebrate the world not ending by
moving your websites and helping HCoop fight against the tyranny of the
Cloud.

(1) _Of course_ we made sure it was actually too slow before making
the ugly optimization.
