I don't see any reason to not go ahead with this, since I'd really like to
have off-site DNS and monitoring.

Perhaps we can move this to the hcoop-sysadmin list to discuss how it
would be implemented?  Since I remember that you're on this list, I'll
send a message to it now with a couple of questions.
