I see that Nathan has setup an Environmental Policy wiki page.  I like
this idea a lot and in regards to hardware it aims to keep hardware out of
the landfill.  Do we want to add to this a policy on purchasing new
hardware?  Something like RoHS compliance, while developed for european
hardware sales, could be a step in the right direction. The RoHS Directive
stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in
electrical and electronic equipment".  http://www.rohs.gov.uk/

As far as donated hardware, I don't think the same rules would apply as we
could be saving something from going to a landfill, but I could be wrong.

Any ideas?
