to specify the name of the config file use the -c  switch.

bondfontend -c myconfigfile.conf

renaming the exe file will also change the name of the config file it looks
for.

individual settings can be overridden with the -v switch,

bondfontend -c myconfigfile.conf -v status=FUBAR

settings not found in the config file will be looked for in the environment.

Bond does not support or recognise the [section tag] part of windows-type 
*.ini files. Other than that bond works with both windows and unix text 
files.
