Edward and I postered this afternoon, at 4th/5th and Jackson; the ID; around the 12th & Jackson/Boren/South end of Broadway neighborhood; and directly around SCCC. We put up 150 posters, and handed out 19 leaflets to interested passersby. We had a number of encouraging comments, for example, in response to our "out now" slogan: "Yes! Now! Not tomorrow! Not the day after tomorrow! Now!"

Today I leafleted the UW campus and the Ave with James, and I passed
out 25 big SAIC leaflets, and had some interesting exchanges; one
person took 5 to spread around to his friends. Several people said
that they were disappointed with Obama and the liberals for the wars
that they have kept the country involved in, and there was a widespread
feeling that Obama's Nobel Peace Prize was a joke. Earlier in the day
I ran into D, of SA/O22 as he was racing to catch a bus, and I walked
with him for a few minutes. He said that the SA chapter had had a
meeting at which they discussed endorsing O17, but decided not to do so
because they thought it would be small and they were discouraged by the
situation on O7 when ANSWER and WCW held competing demonstrations. I
said that this was very sectarian of SA because we weren't part of that
squabble, and he agreed, and said he was disgusted with this decision.
I mentioned that E. had heard from R. K. that he was not aware of O17
in spite of all the work we had done, and D. said that he thought that
R. K. was certainly lying when he said that, in order to stall for time
on the issue. I asked D. about speaking for O22 on Sat. and he said
that he had heard from Anton and replied that if no one else from O22
would speak, he would. This exchange confirms my feeling that D. is
one of the least sectarian of the SA people and he was as usual very
friendly. Running total 4799, James will probably weigh in later
with his count.

Today Alex and I passed out 126 leaflets at SCCC, which is
surprising since we’ve already passed out many, many hundreds there.
More, I wasn’t even there very long.--Fk.

Today and yesterday I handed out 26 leaflets at the UW, between

classes. One older guy took several to hand out to a local Democratic

Party meeting that he goes to(!!). He said that the people in this

group were pretty mad at what Obama was doing. Running total 4648.

  I

went out yesterday to Seattle Central. I distributed 83 leaflets.

Several people expressed excitement about the demo. One man came out

of his way to get it, so he would have the demo details. A student

said that they're trying to get SAW going again, and that they plan to

be there on Saturday.
