[Oct. 17 Seattle] Report, one mass-work thread

71 more leaflets handed out at Shoreline CC. Extended conversations:

   - A 17 year old running start student told me that if we were to pull out
of the middle east the region would be thrown into chaos. I told him that
the middle east is already in chaos and that over 750,000 civilians have
bean murdered. He began to shake and I told him that it is ok to be angry.
Before we parted ways I gave him the latest SAIC leaflet telling him to read
it all the way through and to let me know what he thinks in history class
   tomorrow.
   - An Afghan man and women asked why I was organizing against the war. I
told them about Karzai's new law permitting marital rape and that the
impoverished in the middle east can build their own democracy. Language
barriers insued and I told them to check out the website for more info.
   - A 20 something man told me that he was about to join the Marines.
After asking him why he told me that he has "nothing better to do." I
agreed that right now the capitalist crisis has taken away our jobs and
asked him if he had heard of the stop loss orders. He said no. i explained
it to him and told him about a friend of mine who was shot while on the
front lines and that as a Marine he should expect to be in harms way. I
urged him to reconsider joining the Marines and that he would be better off
giving such an important decision more thought.
   - A 20 something asked me whether or not we would have speakers. I told
him yes and that I planned to speak at the march. He seemed quite empowered
to see me out there organizing for the march and I let him know that we can
stop the war but we have to work together. He said that he would check out
the websight and might make it to the march.
