I'm heading to an event in a bit but wanted to make a quick comment re this subject... Yes, my bandwidth has gone up quite a bit since I joined..however, this was partially due to comment made by some admins (as I vaguely recall) who said something like "we aren't using much of our b/w that we pay for, so why be concerned?" when I wanted to get stats to reduce my usage some months ago...and if we are still in that situation, and my b/w is still very small compared to overall total, why should I now get penalized? The curr July stats show my Chatmroom site using 5% of the unknownlamer.org site...so while I'm using a fair amount, dividing costs equally when usage varies THAT much between users doesn't make sense to me...paying extra like on ABU was a better deal for me! Also, my disk usage is low compared to overall total so again, why should I get penalized because some members need a lot more? My needs for services are quite minimal, so a reduced feature set might well work for me...and I suspect that we are having to expand due to the needs of a few users, and feel like I'm being dragged along when a lesser system and capacity would still work fine for me...do I need all the bells and whistles that we are paying each month to our supplier? I don't think so...maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see it...I just need a Chevy...not a Cadillac! More later... -- Clinton Ebadi wrote: As one of the members who consume most of the bandwidth and disk space, I think it would be better to go back to the way we handled bandwidth on Abulafia (when we had to pay by the gig): if you use more than the average use level you pay a larger share. I think it would be simplest to base it on disk usage (as it is the resource with the largest real cost); if you need 2x the normal quota you pay 2x the normal member price.
