It seems that we want to mainly use this radio announcement to inform people who would normally go to such a demonstration---or who are on the verge of going to a demonstration for the first time---but haven’t otherwise heard about this one, that it’s going to happen. Actual political mobilization has to be done somewhere other than in an announcement.

So I think what we want (and what will get on the air), is something very short and simple, i.e., on October 17 there’s going to be a march demanding that the U.S. get out of Afghanistan now, followed by details. (Thus, I’m “overthrowing” my previous suggestion.) Of course one should spiff this up a little, but not much.

(Sorry to be so general, but maybe if we first agree on the general, then the particular will be easier.)

----- Original Message -----

From: Anton Black

To: antiwar@lists.hcoop.net

Sent: Sun, 4 Oct 2009 03:36:33 +0000 (UTC)

Subject: Re: [Oct. 17 Seattle] Rough draft PSA

On October 7 begins the ninth year of U.S.-sponsored

war and ruin for the Afghan

people.
